Review by hotel critic
I recently spent a delightful weekend at B&B Domus Dei Cocchieri in Palermo, and I have to say, this hidden gem will surely surprise you! Tucked away in the vibrant La Kalsa neighborhood, it's just a short 10-minute stroll from the central train station and near the bustling Vucciria markets, perfect for immersing yourself in the local culture, especially if you love architecture like I do as a marine biologist exploring coastal heritage. Once we stepped inside, the artistic decor immediately caught my eye; the bold colors and murals really reflect the lively Sicilian spirit! The owner was incredibly friendly, offering us valuable tips on where to dine and explore - his passion for the area added an enriching layer to our stay. Breakfast was a treat; the buffet spread featured local cheeses, croissants, and even homemade cakes that made for a tasty start to our days. While the rooms could use a bit more attention, the private bathrooms and free Wi-Fi were a welcome comfort after long days of sightseeing.
